THE GOD WITH WHOM WE HAVE TO GIVE ACCOUNT

The Bible states clearly that "man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgement" - Hebrews 9: 27

God is the origin of all things, it is not only that God is just, he is justice. It is not only that God is powerful, he is power. It is not only that God loves, he is love. They are all part of his Being.

God knows all things, he has always known all things and he will always know all things.

He is omnipotent - all powerful. He is omnipresent - everywhere at every moment and in every place.

He is omniscient - He has unlimited knowledge of everything, there is no exception whatsoever.

God is without limit - This is what the Bible (the Scriptures) says about him -

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the earth - Psalm 19: 1 to 4

This glory of God has been known to man throughout history and today we can see far more and know far more than David knew when he wrote this psalm, and yet the apostle Paul’s accusation is as relevant today as it was when he wrote the book of Romans - The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the Godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities - his eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly  seen, being understood by what has been made, so that men are without excuse - Romans 1: 18 to 20

Men see the wonder of the heavens, they see the incredible beauty of the world, but instead seeking the Creator and worshiping him they have made artificial idols of wood, stone and metal, and worshiped what their own hands had made. Today idolatry takes a wider form still, we worship money and materialism, sport’s idols, singers and occult figures; in fact, almost anything or anyone except Almighty God. Superstition abounds, you hear even well educated people saying, "I’m keeping my fingers crossed". When they ought to be saying, "If God wills".

The apostle Paul goes on to say -

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although the claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator - who is forever praised. Amen. - Romans 1: 21 to 25

However, it is not only the wonder of God’s creation that witnesses to his greatness and his glory, it is a fact that God has spoken through the centuries and made himself known to  men.

The writer of the Biblical book of Hebrews that -

In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the majesty in heaven - Hebrews 1: 1 to 3

Our sin - lawbreaking and rebellion - has separated us from God and brought us under his - Romans 3: 23

Condemnation and judgement, the Bible says - There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

The nicest of us are evil in comparison with the utter perfection and holiness of God. We needed someone to deal with sin and reconcile us to God. And God, himself has provided that someone - For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whosoever believes in  him should not perish but have eternal life - John 3: 16

The Son of God is Jesus Christ and he clearly states that he is the only answer - I am the way, and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father (God) except through me - John 14: 6

And the Bible tells us clearly that -

There is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself a ransom for all men - 1 Timothy 2: 5 & 6

A mediator is a peacemaker, one who brings together the parties in dispute in order to bring about reconciliation. Jesus alone could do this; he is God and enjoys his Father’s complete trust. God spoke from heaven and said: "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased" - Matthew 3: 17.

But Jesus is also man and he should, therefore, have the complete trust of men as well, because - we do not have a high priest (Jesus) who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, "but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are - yet without sin" - Hebrews 4: 13

A priest is a mediator and the ransom that this mediator (Jesus Christ) gave for mankind was his own life. The Cross of Calvary is the pivotal point of all creation. Here God dealt, once and for all, with sin - Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree (crucified) He redeemed us in order that the blessing might come - through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit - Galatians 3: This is the way, and the only way to be saved for eternity!

Three things to remember then - "The heavens declare the glory of God" - "Man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgement" - Jesus said, "Whoever comes to me I will never drive away" - John 6: 37. He, and he alone, can save you.

Come to him now, confess to him your sin and your need, and he will receive you and save you and transform your life for eternity. You will see the beauty of God’s creation through new eyes and from a new perspective.

Many Blessings!!!
