While The Church isn't a Political Party it does have a MANIFESTO

My dictionary tells me that a manifesto is a public declaration of policy or belief issued by a person or a body and particularly in Spain by a political party.

While the Church is not a political party it does have a manifesto.

Perhaps the most important teaching that Jesus gave was when he seated himself on the grass of a hillside, called his disciples around him, and behind them a great crowd of people arranged themselves, so that they could hear him. And he declared to them the manifesto of the kingdom of heaven.

You can find it in the gospel of Matthew in chapter 5 verse 1 to chapter 7 verse 28.

He began by telling us how to be blessed, he then spoke of a Christian believers testimony before the world, and continued describing the importance of God’s moral law and its need to be fulfilled, and that there would be retribution for sin - the breaking of God’s law. He spoke of love, giving it a completely new perspective, and pointed out that the only perfect love issues from Almighty God, the believers Heavenly Father.

Read all this for yourself and meditate on it, asking the Holy Spirit to help you.

Jesus continued speaking of true prayer and fasting, that a believer’s wealth is not earthly, but heavenly. He said, not to worry, but to seek first God’s kingdom, and what you need on earth will be provided. He told us to judge ourselves before we attempt to judge our brother, and, even then, gently, out of genuine love for him.

He spoke of two gates, one wide that leads to destruction and the other narrow and opens to a road that leads to life.

The great question is which of the two are you travelling on? Your eternal destiny depends on the answer. But if it is the wide one that leads to destruction, you can change from the one to the other, Jesus made that possible when he died as a sacrifice for sin on the Cross; just repeat this prayer sincerely from your heart -

"Dear Lord Jesus, I realize that I have sinned and that I am travelling on the road to destruction, but I come to you now, that in your love and mercy you will transfer me to that narrow, but safe road, that leads to eternal  life, and that you will be with me on that narrow way; thank you for hearing my cry: Amen."

Jesus finished his great manifesto of the kingdom, by telling the people that his words must be put into practice -

Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash - Matthew 7: 24 to 27

Jesus spoke with the authority of heaven - "You have heard that it was said - long ago - but I tell you" - Matthew 5: 21

He had authority to teach - When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law - Matthew 7: 28

He has authority to judge - For has the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son to have life in himself. And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man - Matthew 5: 27

He confirmed that himself - Then Jesus came to them (his disciples) and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me - Matthew 28: 18

His words are as authoritative today as they ever were, will you respond to them? They are not grievous or unloving and they are full of promise -

"Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your soul. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light" - Matthew 11: 28 to 30

May this blessing be with you!
